A little glamour


(Facing page) Make-up for summer weddings is a challenge. Begin with CTM (cleanse, tone, moisturize) and use a matte-effect foundation. For the eyes, metals are great, but use them more to highlight. Use a sheer gold eye shadow on the lids. From the upper lid to the brow bone, and on the lower lids, blend in green shadow. Use a soft brown or emerald eye pencil on the inner rim of the lower lid and just a tad on the upper lid. Apply a double coat of mascara. Use a rose pink blush for the cheeks and for the lips-go dark in a shade of pink or red. Get your hair set in soft curls using rollers and spray on some hair shine. Make a burn if the temperature soars.

A mutt do!


Next time you head for a casual, wind –down dinner at a friend’s, don’t just pick up blooms that are wilting in the summer heat. By some good ice-cream or a dessert (pick up something in a fruity, summery flavor) from the patisserie at any 5-star hotel (they usually offer discounts after 8-8.30 pm), and surprise them further by adding a small gift for their much-loved pet.
It need not be an expensive pet shampoo or an elaborate hamper of grooming products; just a couple of colorful chews a nice collar, combs or even a bright food bowl will do. Buy them from any pet shop you know.
Your thoughtful favor will not only be rewarded with glowing compliments from the host, you’re sure to get a wage and a woof from their furry friend too.

3 apples a day…

Fed up of diets that are impractical, or leave you plain starved? There may be a “natural” solution you can sink your teeth into: apples! Apples are low in calories, fat and sodium, and contain vitamins, minerals and fiber so how do they help you lose weight? a famous dietician and trainer has come up with a three-apple-a-day plan(where you eat one apple before each meal) after one of her clients-who’d reached a diet “plateau”- simply ate the fruit before each meal(without changing anything else) and lost half a kilo of fat in a week! He applied this idea to a group of people and found that they lost three times the amount of weight than before the special diet. So how does it work? Nutritionist says, ‘the apple is a “dream fruit”, zero-fat , with a low glycogenic index(low sugar) of 35 –perfect for diabetes-it makes you feel full and satiated, and keeps you from bingeing.’
